Recently retired boxer Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) falls on hard times after his accountant mismanages his finances. He stages a comeback of sorts by mentoring fiery young boxer Tommy (Tommy Morrison), while also trying to mend his shaky relationship with his own son, Robert (Sage Stallone). These challenges prove to be at least as tough as any fight Rocky has faced in the ring. He wonders if he will be able to meet them and raise his arms in victory again.

Critics Consensus

Rocky V's attempts to recapture the original's working-class grit are as transparently phony as each of the thuddingly obvious plot developments in a misguided installment that sent the franchise flailing into longterm limbo.

The dramatic moves are so obvious and shopworn that not even the star's mournful basset-hound expressions can redeem them. Go to Full Review

Whereas the first and far superior Rocky had real heart, this tries and fails to have brains. Go to Full Review

A sloppy but good-natured reminder of just what it is that has kept Rocky Balboa afloat for 14 years. Go to Full Review

This is a very shaky, oftentimes flawed film, but for some reason I like it. I’ve grown accustomed to these characters. I want to make sure they’re okay. Go to Full Review

The film, which could have been horrible, is not bad, not bad at all. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Radi P @Radboy424 1d Might be the most mid movie I have watched. Tommy Gunn was a character I had no desire to see on the screen, in a bad way. The movie was pretty boring. Only reason it’s not lower is because of the dynamic between Rocky and his son See more rik B @RikRik 2d Sylvester Stallone said it perfectly and summed it up correctly when he rated this movie a 0 out of 10. The only reason why i am giving it a half star is because it is required by rotten tomatoes, otherwise i rate this pile of garbage a 0 out of 10 lol. **SPOILER** There is no way in heck that Paulie would ever have access to Rocky and Adrians money, accounts, power of attorney or anything. This movie is garbage scenario at it's finest thinking that Rocky somehow had to be poor again to make this thing work. So stupid and a total stain on this once incredible franchise and first 4 amazing films. See more Guilherme M @RT21202523 6d Loved it. Even though it relies on the nostalgia from the first movie, it's still a great movie, and really did a good job with not repeating the same formula from the past movies. It's very overhated. See more Daniel L @Hotchopeppa Apr 11 Love love love this franchise. 5 movies in and we're still feeling the Rocky magic. Sylvester Stallone is a serious creative genius. See more Fire T. @fireterrell07 Mar 2 Favorite rocky movie in the franchise. Fight me See more John K @WQCMI Feb 19 I can see what they were going for here, but it didn't work out for me. The story is boring and poorly executed, there was a lot of good ideas that could've been good, but you're just left with a mess. Overall, not the worst film ever made, but its definitely the worst film of the franchise. See more Read all reviews
